With the successful western-move of the Qingdao Port and rapid growth of
local economy, a zone of port-adjacent industries emerged at the Qingdao western
coast. Electrics, household appliances, petrochemical, machine manufacturing,
bio-pharmacy and other new industries surged fast at
the zone. The port
logistics gained rapid growth as well.
The Coordinate Company of Bao Steel Qingdao, located at the Economic and
Technological Development Zone, is a logistics enterprise with a general
investment of more than 70 million Yuan. It is an important part of Bao Steel's
global trade network that combines the processing, coordinating and trade. The
company was located at the zone for its superior geographical position that has
helped the steel group cutting down their costs.
The port-adjacent industries have taken shape after several years'
development. The production value of pillar industries have accounted for 80% of
the total of the zone. These industries include electronics, household
appliances, petrochemical, machinery, logistics, bio-pharmacy and new
construction materials. A new industrial system has taken shape, which features
large projects including Haier, Hisense, Aucma and Haixi Ship building and
repairing. The Qianwan International Logistics Park, the largest open style
logistics park in Qingdao, is only 500 meters away from the northern door of the
Qianwan Port at the west coast.
Jiaonan city, which also is located at the west coast at the Development
Zone catches the opportunity of Qingdao's western move of economy and takes
strategy of linking with the east side of Qingdao and extending to the north
side. Linking with the east will attach itself with the port economy and
extending to the north means to develop a port-adjecent processing industrial
zone. Jiaonan city has planned a more than 60 square kilometers industrial
processing area at the northern part of the city. It will accept large projects
with an investment exceeding USD10 million and high tech projects. It will
strive to be the largest coordinating service zone of Qingdao and the breeding
area for new industries and an export oriented processing district.
With the continuous development of the port-adjacent industries, the trade,
tourism and port navigation service industries show a tendency of booming
development too. The surging of port-adjacent industries zone will have further
reaching influence to the city's further opening up and the establishment of an
