BEIJING, July 21 (Xinhuanet) -- The city of Beijing registered 8.32
billion US dollars in foreign trade in the first half of this year, up 39.6
percent over the same period last year, according to the latest statistics from
the Beijing Customs.
The foreign trade
volume included 3.26 billion US dollars in exports and
5.06 billion US dollars in imports, up 33.9 percent and 43.4 percent
respectively over the corresponding period of last year.
Beijing's foreign trade volume hit 1.535 billion US dollars in June alone,
a rise of 36.2 percent year-on-year.
State-owned enterprises reported a 12.6 percent increase in exports and a
48.4 percent increase in imports in the six-month period.
Foreign-invested enterprises registered 2.24 billion US dollarsin exports,
up 42.7 percent over last year. Foreign-funded enterprises' exports accounted
for 68.7 percent of all Beijing's exports in the period.
Collective businesses saw exports rise by 13.3 percent and imports rise by
102.7 percent.
Export of electro-mechanical, high-tech and textile products continued to
rise with the increase rates reaching 38.9 percent, 43.8 percent and 16.8
percent respectively.
Beijing's exports to Japan during the period rose by 23.6 percent, to the
United States by 18.9 percent and to Germany by 131.5 percent, according to the
