????The construction of the National Marine Underwater Equipment Test and Detection Technology Engineering Lab commenced last week in the Blue Silicon Valley, Qingdao.
????It is said that this national engineering lab, the legal entity of which is Qingdao Marine Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Group Co., Ltd., will be jointly constructed by 9 organizations including China Classification Society, Ocean University of China, China University of Petroleum (East China) and Offshore Oil Engineering (Qingdao Co., Ltd.) The operation and management of this national engineering lab will be under the leadership of the council and implement the lab director’s responsibility system. The technical committee will also be established as an advisory institution.
????It is said that Zhou Shouwei, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, will act as the director of the technical committee, well-known experts including Gu Xinyi, the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, will become members of the technical committee, Zhang Dagang, an expert listed into the national strategy of recruiting 1,000 high-end overseas talents will hold the post of the lab director.
????This national engineering lab will tackle problems in key technologies of inspection and detection, research and develop key technical standards, gather and educate technological innovation talents urgently needed by the industries. Relying on these two national level platforms namely the National Engineering Lab and National Marine Equipment Quality Inspection Center, Qingdao Blue Silicon Valley will gather advantageous resources, set up an autonomously controllable fundamental quality technology “one-stop” platform, gradually improve measuring, standard, inspection and detection, certification and accreditation coordinated development service system and provide enormous support to the technological advance in Chinese marine underwater equipment test and detection and industrial development.
